New Delhi: Delhi woke up on Saturday to shocking news of gang-rape of two minors in the capital in separate incidents.
Both the crimes took place on Friday evening.
In the first case, a two-and-a-half-year-old girl was kidnapped and allegedly gang-raped by two men on a motorcycle in west Delhi’s Nangloi area. The incident took place when the girl was watching Ramlila near her home.
She was found unconscious and bleeding profusely at a nearby park.
In the second incident, three neighbours gang-raped a five-year-old girl in Anand Vihar in east Delhi.
The three men, identified as Prakash, Rewati and Sitaram, have been arrested by police and a case registered against them under IPC section 376D and POCSO Act.
Both the girls have been admitted to hospitals and are reported to be in serious but stable condition.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has termed the incidents as “shameful and worrying”.
Kejriwal, who will visit the two minor victims shortly, tweeted:
Repeated rape of minors is shameful and worrying. Delhi police has completely failed to provide safety. What are PM n his LG doing?
